The CDC said Thursday that the outbreak in China was the most severe since it started more than a decade ago, and it warned of a possible pandemic in the United States and elsewhere.

The World Health Organization also warned that the pandemic could spread to other countries.

The number of cases was at its highest level since the outbreak started more years ago, the agency said.

It said it had seen a sharp increase in the number of people who had tested positive for coronavirus.

People in China, Vietnam, India, the Philippines and South Korea were most affected, according to the World Health Organisation.

China recorded more than 4,700 new cases in the week ending July 11, surpassing the previous high set in April.

More than 2,300 people in the Philippines have tested positive, more than double the number recorded in the same period last year, the Philippine Health Authority said.

There were more than 6,000 new cases of coronaviruses in the U.S., including at least 2,500 in California and the Los Angeles area, according the CDC.
